Pain & Peace - A Meditation for Our Shared Humanity

Pain & Peace

A Meditation for Our Shared Humanity

Tuesday, November 21st, 12:30pm-1pm PST / 3:30pm-4pm EST

Online via Zoom

Peace in Schools is an organization that focuses on peace for young people. The conflict and intense loss of precious life in Palestine and Israel weighs on us all. At Peace in Schools, we understand that we are interconnected – that our success, our freedom and our wellbeing are tied together. The immense and growing number of casualties, specifically child casualties, is excruciating. How do we respond? How do we tend to it in our classrooms and communities?

If we want peace, we must tend to our pain.

We know that how we hold and react to our pain matters and ripples out into our relationships, our community, and our physical bodies. One of the lessons we share with our high school students is called “Being with Pain.” Through mindfulness practice, we can make space for the pain and grief we experience in our lives and the world in a way that fosters peace, care, and connection to our shared humanity.

In this free community meditation, we want to create a space for community members to be with the pain of the world and to meet heartbreak with tenderness and presence. I hope you’ll join us.
