Maggie Steele (she/her)
Director of Training

Maggie Steele, MSW, is a dedicated educational leader who brings over 15 years of experience working with teens and youth-serving professionals to her role as Director of Training. Since joining Peace in Schools in 2016, Maggie has designed curricula for and taught our for-credit, elective Mindful Studies course to hundreds of teens. She was a core creator of our adult program in 2017 and has since developed, managed and facilitated in-depth mindfulness-based professional development trainings that focus on social emotional learning, suicide prevention, anti-oppressive practices and trauma-informed approaches when working with youth. In 2023 Maggie created a framework for our pedagogical approach and designed the 150-hour Peace in Schools Certification Training for educators, clinicians and youth-serving professionals. As a young adult struggling with mental health challenges, Maggie was first introduced to mindfulness in 2003 and has since dedicated her life to supporting adolescents in cultivating self-compassion, self-love and an unshakable knowing that their being here matters.
