Thank you for our most successful gala yet!

We couldn't have asked for a more magical or moving night! A huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to support mindfulness in education at our Annual Gala & Fundraiser, as well as to our generous supporters.

The evening included an incredibly moving speech from keynote speaker Peyton Chapman, as well as beautiful presentations from Iesha Trevino, Gia Naranjo-Rivera, Anthony Burrell, David Kahl, and Jae Anajovich. The chefs at Field Day provided a stunning farm-to-table feast, the Christopher Woitach Trio added the perfect musical accompaniment, Curtis Kidwell and Bullseye Media created a heartwarming short film featuring Peace in Schools students, and emcee Barnaby Willett kept the evening running smoothly.

Finally, a big thank you to auctioneer Mitch Lambley and everyone who enthusiastically participated in our silent auction and special appeal. We raised $134,230 to bring mindfulness education to more teens and educators in the coming year, thanks to all our generous donors!

Thank you for making the evening such a success—and a delight.

Finally, we wanted to share some powerful excerpts from Peyton’s moving keynote speech:

We recommend Mindfulness classes to all of our students and we routinely use Mindfulness to help keep students alive. We particularly encourage students to enroll in Mindfulness classes if they are on a self-harm safety plan, struggling with negative self-talk, working to increase body positivity, trying to stay afloat while they navigate adult addiction in their lives, trying to survive a divorce or
managing merged families issues, have just lost a parent, or are trying to stay present and experience calm in an frenetic world. Many of our Mindfulness students have become incredible leaders working to help peers problem solve and seek mental health supports.
— Peyton Chapman, Principal at Lincoln High School
Mindfulness is one of our best forms of both prevention and response to crises at Lincoln and at home. I read somewhere that Mindfulness isn’t hard, we just need to remember to do it. Providing 90 minutes every other day during the regular school day ensures that students take the time to practice the skills they need to screen out toxic cultural messaging and create life-saving habits. Peace in Schools also helps train families and educators. Watching teachers and parents learn Mindfulness strategies to model positivity, frame questions in a non-judgmental way, and model centering and calm in order to help keep kids alive is a beautiful act of love to witness.
